Clash Royale: Best Emotes to Spend Gems On

Maybe, just maybe, make your opponent crack a smile.

Whether you want to celebrate your own victory or just mock your opponents, emotes are the go-to way to express yourself in Clash Royale. And while there are a handful of ways to get emotes, the most common is by far purchasing them from the shop with gems. In this article I’ll go over my picks for the best emotes to spend gems on (in no particular order) so you won’t waste those precious gems (which aren’t that hard to get, really). Let’s get started with a brief section on what emotes you can buy with gems so you know which you can and can not get!

What Emotes Can You Buy With Gems?

Most emotes in Clash Royale can be purchased with gems in the shop. You get 3 options each day, and they always cost 250 gems. Certain emotes (such as event rewards and limited-time ones) can not be purchased from the shop, however. If an emote is tied to an event like the 20-win challenge or some other difficult task, then you can expect it not to be in the shop. You also cannot get the legendary bordered emotes (you can identify these by their shiny/foil border) from the shop.

Nervous Goblin

The nervous Goblin emote is perfect for two occasions. First is if you’re actually nervous. If your opponent drops a Hog Rider and you know you can’t counter it, the nervous Goblin is one way to go. But, more commonly, it’s used sarcastically. As with the majority of emote-usage in Clash Royale, it’s almost always done to annoy opponents or mock them. Just take a tower? Nervous Goblin. Counter their whole Golem push? Nervous Goblin. Never fails to annoy opponents, which is usually the goal.

Confident Hog

The confident hog emote is perfect for any time when you’re ahead or take a tower. It’s the best emote for gloating, and it’s not even close. Is it toxic? Absolutely. Other than using it at the very start of a game, there’s really no way to use this emote that isn’t kind of toxic. But that seems to be the whole point of the emote system, so it’s not hard to see why it’s so popular.

Sad Dark Prince

This emote is one of the best “I’m upset” emotes. It’s great for after someone takes out one of your towers or plays one of their big threats. There are a few of these crying emotes, but the Dark Prince variant is easily my favorite. I’m not even sure if he can breathe through all those tears.

Mini P.E.K.K.A. Pancakes

Pancakes are hard not to love, so this is an obvious inclusion for the list. Mini P.E.K.K.A. might just love pancakes more than anyone, as they’re present in everything from his emotes to his heroic ability. This emote doesn’t really convey any particular emotion (other than hunger), but it’s fun enough to make the list anyway. Sometimes a good emote is just a fun one, which this certainly is.

Thankful Firecracker

Of all the emote on this list, this one might be the only wholesome one here. The thankful Firecracker is typically used at the start of games or to say “GG” at the end. That being said, you could also spam it after taking an opponent’s tower. It’s really up to you.

Thumbs-Up Princess

Of all the ironic emotes, this one might be my favorite. Princess’ thumbs up is anything but sincere, and it might be the best emote for conveying the fact that you know you’ve lost. It’s not an emote I use every game, but it’s definitely one of my favorites to use from time to time.

Angry Giant

The Giant is not a guy you want to upset. This emote is just funny to me. I don’t know why but the animation of him smacking his hands together just makes me laugh, and it’s a good emote to use at the start of a game. It’s even better if you have Giant in your deck. In fact, just about any of the troop-specific emotes are good if you’re using that card. The Angry Giant is easily one of my favorites.

Surrender Goblin

Most emotes convey emotion (it’s in the name after all), but this one makes a statement. When you give up and you just want your opponent to take your King Tower and move on, no emote is better than this one. I usually accompany this emote by spamming all my spells on the opponent’s King Tower to get them to hurry up, especially in tournament matches I can’t get out of.

Angry Log

Last but not least is the angry Log emote. While all of the angry troop emotes are funny to me, this one stands out as the funniest. The Log is, as you might expect, not an animate object. However, that doesn’t stop it from raging just like any other troop does. The angry Log is a must-have in my opinion. In fact, I might even say it’s the best emote in Clash Royale.
